Boundless: Arts and Intellects Exhibition
In 2019, my professor Jeri Robinson selected me along with two other students to have our pieces included in a boundless exhibition. The exhibition is the first PASSHE-wide conference for students and faculty in the arts, humanities and social sciences. It was hosted by Millersville University at the Ware Center and included many other universities such as Kutztown, West Chester, Bloomsburg and more. Our professor labeled our pieces under the category "Contemporary Material Design in Action."
The Process
For this pattern design the task was to create two complementary designs. I wanted to create a floral pattern, but have the complementary or secondary pattern be simplistic by having lines or dots. Due to the flowers being more delicate line work, I went with lines for the second pattern and varied the size that went small to large similar to a sound wave. The lines also have a gradient effect, where as the line becomes bigger the color becomes darker. In the floral pattern I added color to the flower petals as watercolor to match the delicacy of the line work.
