Final Spread
In 1933, Harry Beck created the London Underground Tube map which is utilized within my design. The title design also pays tribute to Edward Johnston’s London Underground logo which was designed in 1919. Each line on the spread is the same color as the line from the Underground Tube map. Also, the lines that go through the places spoken about on the second spread are actually the places one can visit if they take those lines. This design choice was made as the purpose of the spreads are to be a tourist checklist and guide to traveling to and in London.
The Process
For this project, the task was to create a two page spread on how to travel to any location of the designer's choice. Another requirement of this was for the title to be “[location] Rules.” For my location, I chose London. I have traveled to London before and it has been one of my favorite cities to visit, so I wanted to create a travel guide for a tourist. The content included on the spread would be basics for travel such as packing essentials, the easiest ways to travel, the best tourist locations and best places to eat and go for afternoon tea.
